Online Bingo site Closes
30th April, 2009

In an abrupt change, ITV Bingo has informed its players that it will being closing at the end of this week. The terrestrial television broadcaster had been in partnership with online bingo operator Party bingo, launching Bingo Night Live.
Initial plans had been for the pair to market bingo to a mass television audience and convert players to online bingo. However the move fuels speculation about ITV’s plans, and the losses experienced by Party Bingo.
Industry insiders believe that the partnership is ending, and is further proof that television bingo is not an effective way of attracting depositing customers.
According to ITV and Party Bingo, Bingo Night Live was a “huge success” at managing to appeal to viewers and encourage them to play online bingo, although they also found most viewers only played in free games.
ITV have said ITV Bingo will close on May 3rd, though they are still on the lookout for another potential partner.
Other industry insiders believe that a likely candidate could be Jackpot Joy, who provider both Sun Bingo and News of the World Bingo for News International.
