Online Bookie Agrees Sponsorship with Wolverhampton Wanders

The online betting firm, Sportingbet, announced the completion of a new sponsorship deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC yesterday. The deal will see both Wolverhampton’s home and away shirts branded with Sportingbet’s logo, as well as players training kit too.

The sponsorship is reportedly a record sum for the club at seven figures for two years, starting in June 2009. Taking over from Chaucer Consulting, who have sponsored the club for the past five years, Sportingbet will become the clubs official betting partner, and also sponsor the clubs website.

Chief Executive at Sportingbet, Andy McIver, said: “Football is the bedrock of our business and we look forward to working closely together.

The Championship Club are currently top of the league and looking to be promoted into the Premier League next year. With the injection of funds from this sponsorship deal, fans will hope that Wolverhampton can be competitive should they enter England’s top football league.

Wolverhampton Wanderers chief executive Jez Moxey, meanwhile, said. “A successful club has to be commercially sound. Any investment along the lines of this sponsorship helps our case to buy players, employ players, and invest in our ground.”
