Online Bookies Shorten Odds on Jenson Button
12th May, 2009
Brawn GP and British Formula One driver Jenson button, stood at the top of the podium again in the Spanish Grand Prix at the weekend, giving him and the Brawn team their fourth win from five.
After starting the season as the ‘man to catch’ in the Australia Grand Prix, Button has stayed lead the field on the track as well as the points board, having secured five podium finishes. he is now 14 points clear of second placed Rubens Barrichello.
Online Bookies have responded to Buttons latest win by shortening odds on him winning the Drivers Championship even further.
Jenson Button has been bookies favourite to win this seasons title since his win in the Australian Grand Prix.
Sky Bet, Coral and Paddy Power have all shortened their odds making Button 4/7 favourite, while Bet365, BetFred and Ladbrokes all price him at 1/2.
With just 5 of 17 Grand Prix completed it is unusual for bookies to have shortened their odds to this degree already, although according to some bookmakers, if Button wins a few more, he’ll be very difficult to catch.
On 41 points after five races, Button has already amassed nearly half the points Lewis Hamilton did last year to win the drivers championship.
