Online Bookies hope for Susan Boyle Rival
27th April, 2009
Britain’s Got Talent has been in the global limelight ever since contestant Susan Boyle wowed judges and the viewing public.
Since April 11th , when Susan appeared on BGT, bets on the Scot to win the show flooded into bookies, who have had to cut odds on her winning, in order to stem potential losses.
However, it seems bookies prayers were answered on Saturday, when a contestant impressed judges and is now being hailed as Miss Boyles main competition.
10 year-old Hollie from Lancashire sang and danced to “I Could Dance All Night” from the musical “My Fair Lady”, winning praise from all three judges and the audience.
Robin Hutchison from Ladbrokes said, "90% of bets on the show have been for Boyle so we've been desperate for someone to take her on. We might have just found a rival in Hollie who melted the hearts of the judges and the betting public."
Susan is still bookies favourite at 1/2 to win the competition though, with Hollie joint second at 5/1.
Simon Cowell, who judges the competition also suggested that with her quick rise to fame, favourite Susan Boyle will now have the added pressure of expectation, and could find the media distractions affecting her later performances.
