Online Bookies slash odds on title Race
22nd April, 2009
Online bookies have significantly shortened their odds on Manchester United winning this seasons Premier League title, after rivals Liverpool dropped two points against Arsenal last night.
Bookies would have also been pleased with the 4-4 scoreline. Few punters would have predicted this unbelievable score line, which saw Russian Andre Arshavin score all four Arsenal goals.
However, Liverpool will be disappointed with the result in a game which they could have easily won. Sky Bet, Paddy Power now price United at 1/7 to retain the title, with Ladbrokes even offering 1/8.
In tonight's game at Old Trafford, bookies predict Ferguson will answer the critics of his team selection, after the defeat to Everton on Sunday in the FA Cup. The Red Devils are priced at 1/4 with several online bookies including, Boylesports, Bluesquare and Bet 365.
United are expected to be back to full strength with the likes of Rooney and Ronaldo both starting.
Portsmouth will be confident after beating Bolton 1-0 on Saturday, however are still huge outsiders and priced at 14/1 to win tonight's fixtures with William Hill.
