Paddy Power continue Online growth in 2009

Online sports bookies use various forms of adverting media to promote their sites. However recently a advertisement has been banned promoting the popular bookie site requestabet.com.

The poster targeted football fans and suggested they should 'beat the city boys at their own game' by wagering money on football at the site. The advert received only one public complaint, yet it has been banned.

A statement from the ASA said “Because the ad stated “With: Inflation eating away at savings… Why not try an alternative method', we considered the ad presented gambling as an alternative form of investment to bank savings. We concluded the ad was misleading and irresponsible.”

Online casino operator Ladbrokes also had a advert banned by the ASA after their TV commercial was claimed to promote gambling being associated with bravely.

Gambling adverts are often under strict scrutiny, but many operators are trying to make the most of the cheap advertising rates currently on offer.
