Online betting odds for tonight's match England vs. Croatia
9th September, 2009
England head coach, Fabio Capello has announced that he has decided what the starting eleven will be when England play Croatia at Wembley on Wednesday night.
Capello has a fully fit squad of 25 to pick from and knows that victory over the Croats will capture the Three Lions place at the World Cup finals in South Africa next summer.
In the build up to the match a lot of speculation has occurred about who will partner Wayne Rooney up front. Emile Heskey and Jermain Defoe have been the leading candidates.
Defoe has scored five goals in three substitute appearances while Heskey performed very well in England’s last match against Croatia which was the 4-1 victory in Zagreb, one year ago.
However England’s Italian manager is being very secretive about who will play and told Sky Sports "More or less, I have decided in my mind."
"Heskey and Defoe are both really important for me, each has a different style, but are both really important.
"We will be playing at home and Croatia will play in a different style. We have to prepare for a different game."
England has suffered mixed fortunes against Croatia in recent times and were eliminated from Euro 2008 by them in the qualifiers at Wembley in November 2007.
Capello discussed how revenge is not a motivating factor and all previous meetings are history. The former Real Madrid boss admitted that qualification is his only objective and he is pleased with how the team is improving. "We are playing well at Wembley, have won all the games and play with confidence. I am sure that will be the same tomorrow." He added.
England to win is 8/13 with Sky Bet while Croatia to win is 4/1 and a draw is 5/2.
