Online poker site hits landmark
4th September, 2008
It has just been announced that the online poker operator PKR has hit their most significant landmark yet when they signed up their two millionth user – a feat that was completed in less than a year from when they reached the one million landmark.
Only the most popular online poker sites have managed to reach this huge number, but what’s most astonishing is how quickly they were able to do it. Many in the industry are speculating how they were able to continue their growth even though current economic conditions were working against them, and most are concluding that it is because of a solid gaming platform.
“Only a handful of poker brands have ever reached this milestone, and none have done it so quickly and without taking US players,” said Simon Prodger, marketing director for PKR. “We are delighted with our progress and look forward to making our third year even better.”
Right now PKR is the second-fastest growing online poker operator in the world, but among those not accepting US players it is the fastest. This fact is another reason why this landmark was so impressive, because it’s difficult to grow at this kind of rate without taking on the players from the US.
PKR is known for its “next-generation” software that enables poker players to join games in a three dimensional environment, which makes for a more realistic gaming experience. PKR also has a consumer magazine Stacked that keeps readers informed about the various happenings at the site.
Many are also pointing to PKR’s launch of its new Club PKR loyalty programme for the reason people are attracted to the site. Of course it could also have something to do with the launch of PKR TV, which has a 15 million potential audience in Europe – which runs for an hour.
Either way I’m sure everyone at PKR is celebrating right now.
