Playboy Poker Can’t Wait Any longer

After only 30 months of operations the online poker room, PlayboyPoker.com, is shutting down. The site has managed to acquire a large number of players with its attracted site, which is powered by CryptoLogic.

Owned by Playboy Gaming a subsidiary of the highly successful Playboy Enterprises International Incorporated global publishing and entertainment concern, it launched in July 2006.

Shortly afterward it was confronted with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), which prohibited the Malta-based operation from accepting American players.

The announcement of its closure comes after members were sent e-mails detailing the closure of the site. Last week players were told that the site planned to call a halt to all operations and had no intention of restarting or moving to a new location.

No doubt Playboy Poker is extremely annoyed about the timing of its closure due to the current buzz among online gambling sites.

Many believe that the prohibition on gambling online will soon be overturned by the new presidential administration. President Barack Obama, has been documented in his support for online gaming and Industry insiders feel this will lead him to change laws allowing for American to partake in online gambling, ultimately leading to a more prosperous future for operators.

Unfortunately however Playboy Poker has already made clear it expects its final day of operation to be the 29th January.
