Playtech Wins Finland Casino And Poker Deal
20th May, 2010

According to eGaming Review, Playtech has won a deal with Finland’s new online gaming monopoly, Rahaautomaattiyhdistys (RAY).
Under the terms of the 4year contract, RAY will be launching an online casino and poker network which will run on Playtech’s technology platform with poker to be played on an exclusive Finnish network.
The project is due to launch during the third quarter of the year and will also have mobile capabilities.
Playtech chief executive Mor Weizer said: "By establishing a domestic online offering, RAY will be furthering its philosophy of responsible and trustworthy gaming. The unique player management tools we can provide will ensure a secure and safe operating environment in line with RAY's core values."
Monopolies in Finland have huge support in the country as they are often seen as more accountable than the private operators as profit is directed towards the government rather than into private hands.
RAY’s spokeswoman Tuula Lehto has said that the purpose of the company’s online business is to provide a, "national, reliable and responsible alternative for Finnish players".
RAY was founded in 1938 and currently owns around 19,000 slot machines in approximately 8,400 locations around Finland. This is in addition to 300 club based casino games and operating Finland’s only casino, the Grand Casino Helsinki.
