Poker Ace is a Drop Out
15th January, 2009
Whoever said you need to finish you education to be a millionaire? With the likes of Richard Branson and Duncan Valentine become icon figures for their business ventures and bank balance, the notion that you can only excel in this world if you have a full education is arguable false.
It is no wonder then a High-School dropout from Norway has succeeded in breaking the record for single payouts in a single competition.
Annette Obrestad is 20 years old and has already amassed a wealth of more than $3 million, including the $2million first place prize for the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOP) tournament, where she became the youngest ever player to win at only 18, and also broke the record for the biggest single payout to a female player.
Sitting at a poker table, where hot-pink leggings and shiny black boots she is a stark contrast to her competitors with their beer bellies and stubble.
Winning her fair share of online tournaments Oberstad got her start in the wild world of Online Poker after seeing a advertisement for an online poker site.
However, though Annette Obrestad may have been fortunate to find something she was good at after dropping out, a full education will open doors much easier.
