Bet24 obtain Gibraltar gaming license

Online Poker and casino operator Bet24 will now be able to advertise and offer players tax free poker gaming. Their new EU gaming license was accredited by the territory of Gibraltar which are part of the EU and therefore European players at Bet24 will not have to pay tax on the winnings they earn.

Chris Dahl, Poker Manager for Bet24.com said in a statement “It’s a really important day for Bet24.com,”

“We are one of a small number of poker operators to have been granted a European Union license in Gibraltar. Now all our products are licensed within the European Union. The requirements for obtaining a license are very strict so, of course, we have been looking forward to this day.”

Scandinavian players have for sometime been taxed on their winnings, most notably Peter Eastgate after his WSOP main event $9.1 million win in November 2008. Authorities are still investigating Easgate's huge win.

Dahl continued, “Together with our poker supplier, Ongame Network, and the authorities in Gibraltar, we have found a solution so we are now officially a license holder in Gibraltar.”
