Posh Bingo Wins In ASA Dispute
25th September, 2009

Posh bingo has recently been under scrutiny from the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) as it received a complaint from a member of the public who believed that the online bingo site’s TV advertisement was misleading to consumers.
The complainant suggested the ad to be misleading with regards to its £20 free welcome offer, as it wasn’t explicit enough.
However, the ‘posh’ online bingo site, it has been found, did not use misleading information in its campaign and is not in breach of any TV advertising standards or codes according to the ASA as the TV campaign clearly stated that terms and conditions applied to the offer. Therefore the complaint has not been upheld by the authority.
The ASA investigates each complaint made about British advertising very thoroughly and is bound by law. However the authority does seem to have put a black mark against many online bingo operators as many complaints have been upheld, for example, wink bingo and tombola bingo that had to scrap whole campaigns in recent months causing huge expense to those involved.
On the occasions that the ASA does rule in favour of the online bingo brand, as with the case of posh bingo, it really does reinforce the integrity of the brand and gives players confidence that their site of choice is reliable.
