Premiership football players banned from Twitter
4th August, 2009

Twitter has become a social media phenomenon and is used widely for the general public to stay in touch with the celebrity’s whereabouts. However, the direct contact and ability to update fans appears to of been abused and caused a lot of controversy with a handful of celebrities and in particular sports celebrities.
Paddy Power has released odds on the first premiership club to officially ban its players from using Twitter. These odds have been prompted after Darren Bent expressed his frustration and anger over how long his move to Sunderland is taking. His tweets were aggressive, threatening and completely anti social. It seems that his Twitter account has now been deleted to avoid any further disruptive behaviour or abuse aimed at Daniel Levy.
The clubs that are less likely to take this offence seriously and implement a Twitter ban are Stoke at 8/1, Blackburn at 10/1 and Everton at 14/1.
Online Bookies Paddy Power is backing, not surprisingly, Spurs as favourite to ban Twitter with odds of 4/1. Second favourite is Hull at 6/1 but strict Sir Alex Ferguson could be a good bet with odds of 9/1.
