Preparations for China’s Online Gambling Market

3rd March, 2008

Many companies are all competing for starting position ahead of the online gambling regulations in China that will allow them to target a new market. The Chinese mainland, before now, have had a ban on online gambling, but are now in review and set to change their laws regarding the issue.

Galaxy Entertainment Group are joining the likes of Bodog, who already have a Chinese web page set up, in campaigns for Chinese custom.

A spokesperson for Galaxy has said that the group is “making moves to capitalize on an eventual legalizing of gaming in the Mainland.” The company have established an agreement with an internet café operator in China with the hope of providing a convenient location for gaming sites to sell online credits.

The changes in regulations in China have set the country up for a massive influx of gaming companies across the country.
