Quiet Casino Gambling Bill Consideration
26th February, 2008
Kentucky’s lawmakers are considering Quiet Casino gambling bill today.
A legislative hearing is happening specifically for a house committee to discuss the details about the casino gambling bill.
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear proposed the bill earlier this year, hoping for casino gambling at racetracks and riverboats to become legal.
Here is what Beshear said about this: “I can tell you this, if House leadership is not united in backing this constitutional amendment, then it will be in great jeopardy of passing the House. It has to have the united effort of the House leadership and they have told me that we would have that and I’m expecting it.”
Beshear wants casino gambling to become legal in Kentucky to sort out $900 million budget shortfall.
If the bill gets approved than Northern Kentucky could get two new casinos built in the area. Beshear said that Kentucky would have hundreds of millions of dollars coming in constantly if the bill was to get approved.
