Sky Poker - Bounty Hunter

28th January, 2009

Viewable both online and through a set-top- box, Sky Poker is the first multi-platform poker room, and they have just launched their brand new Sky Poker Bounty Hunter Tournament. Rules are the same as normal poker, but where the tournament differs is in the structure of the pot.

At the start of the tournament, each player pays the same entry fee and buy-in, in exactly the same way as players do in a normal tournament.

A percentage of the pot is then split equally amongst the players as a ‘head value’ with the rest making up the prize pool. When a participant takes out an opposition player, they win both that players bounty and the pot.

This obviously makes the players that have taken out more opponents a marked target, resulting from the fact that they have a higher bounty on their head than their competitors.

To really up the intensity, Sky will be televising the tournaments, and with a large number of satellite games connected up to it, it looks to be one of the most expansive of its kind in Britain.

There will be 700 seats available for the first tournament, which will also be broadcast on Friday 27th of January with a maximum of 700 seats available. To play in this tournament, there is a £55 entrance fee, but for in the main lobby, for £2.65, you can also participate in one of the regular on-going satellites, the winners of which gain eligibility for the semi-finals each night at 21:45, which opens up the potential of participating, on the last Friday of the month, in the finals.

To check out the tournaments, switch to channel 865 through your Sky Box, or log on to Sky Poker
