Spanish Bingo Market
28th January, 2009

In the UK there are so many bingo websites for us to play on and so many incredible prizes to be won- we are truly spoilt for choice! Whilst players see variety in the market, operators have tended to see saturation. It was this belief that the UK market was becoming saturated, that led to the search for a new country with an undeveloped bingo market. What country did operators choose? By and large, they chose Spain.
Why Spain?
The first thing to note is that in recent years, the number of people with internet access in Spain has almost doubled. Furthermore, reports show that Spanish people are making more and more online transactions. Another reason why Spain was so appealing is that the lottery is Spain is hugely popular. Bingo operators predicted that el loto and online bingo would share the same demographic of players. To an extent this was true, but not in the way that many bingo operators had predicted. In Spain, unlike most European countries, the average loto/online bingo player is male and roughly 35 years old. This contrasts somewhat with the stereotypical view of the average UK online bingo player- the forty to fifty year old house wife.
How has the Spanish market faired?
The Spanish bingo market has grown a lot in the past year or so. Not only are there Spanish sites such as Winzingo.com, juegabingoya.com and Feriabingo.com, there are also several translated British sites as well, such as bingocorona.es (Crown Bingo).
Although the Spanish Bingo Market is still relatively young and undeveloped, operators are pleased with its growth thus far, and are confident that as the market continues to grow, online bingo be as popular in Spain as it is in the UK.
