Speaker Race Closer Than Ascot!

Ex foreign secretary and MP for Derby South, Margaret Beckett, is favourite to become the next Speaker of the House of Commons. A secret ballot will take place today to reveal who gets the job.
It has been reported by the Sunday Telegraph that Beckett claimed for £11,000 in gardening expenses. “Beckett has edged marginally ahead as favourite but could be scuppered by the latest newspaper expenses revelations” said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe, “This is a closer race than any at Royal Ascot but there will be hundreds of thousands of pounds riding on the outcome even though the public can't vote on who will win”
Odds are in for Margaret to win from Ladbrokes at 5/4 with John Bercow at 4/1.
