Superheroes help with bingo Fund Raisers

Two of the most popular superheroes in the world descended on Essex last week in an attempt to help the Gala Bingo hall raise money for the Sue Ryder Care.

The Sue Ryder Care is one of the leading healthcare charity providing expert care to and support to people living with serious illnesses and conditions, as well as their families. Each year Sue Ryder Care give over 4 million hours of care to sufferers of Huntingdon disease, Parkinson disease, cancer and multiple sclerosis.

Both Superman and Superwoman joined regular bingo players for the day while they enjoyed a few sessions of bingo. Gala Bingo employees Wayne Williams and Louise Wicker both sported the superhero costumes in an attempt to add fun to the charitable activities.

The hall in Basildon is aiming to raise £2,000 to give to the charity by the end of the year, and manager Ian Wilson said, “We thought the presence of Superman and Superwoman was the perfect way to celebrate, and the looks on the faces of some of our members were priceless! It’s not everyday people in Basildon come face to face with superheroes.”

According to Mr Wilson, members at the hall are very community orientated and so fund raising for charity is easy to do.
