TV shows- be careful how you bet
17th December, 2008
This year reality TV has given us excitement, entertainment and drama a plenty. If the papers weren't reporting on Laura White or Diana Vicker's shock exit from X-Factor, they were writing about John Sergeant and his two left feet. The point is, we are so engrossed by these shows that they become part of our lives, our routine. Because we invest so much time into these programmes we are outraged when the likes of John Sergeant quit or when there is controversy over voting etc.
So how does this affect your bets?
- Remember when betting on reality tv that it is not so much about the talent, as it is about the popularity. Of course, talent will play apart in who eventually wins, but without the popular vote, there are no guarantees. You only have to look at the examples of Laura White on X-factor who though talented failed to win over the audience, or even John Sergeant who despite being talentless was kept in the show week after week.
Strictly is the last reality tv show left and this weekend is the final. For those hoping to make bets on the final result take heed of this advice: assess who is the most popular contestant- even if that person is not the most talented...
Odds for this weekend: winners:
- Tom Chambers 1/1 (bet365)
- Rachel Stevens 13/8 (victorchandler)
- Lisa Snowdon 13/2 (victorchandler)
Choose your bets carefully!
