Liquor commissioner, James Willey, will be deciding the fate of the Emma’s pub and cantina after the owner and the manager, who is the owner’s husband, were accused of running illegal gambling in the place. The hearing is scheduled for April 29.

If the police manages to prove that Kathleen J. Alvarez and her husband Michael A. Alvarez have been promoting large scale gambling in their two-year old pub, then the venue is to be shut and repossessed, and the couple sued.

Police Chief James Linane Charges were in on April 5, which started off an investigation that lasted 14 months.

What doesn’t help the couple already is that Michael Alvarez, pub owner’s husband was once already convicted of syndicated gambling in DuPage County in 1988 and 1996. To add to this Mrs Alvarez behaved suspiciously after she opened the pub. She said she didn’t want a manager when she applied for the liquor license two years ago. Despite that she hired her husband for the role later on.

The investigation continues.
