Bingo Boom?

We all know that many businesses and companies are struggling to cope with the tough economic climate, however are industries such as Bingo benefiting from the recession?

Bingo is an industry which in the past has benefited from tough economic times as more cut back from spending money on nights out and opt for a Bingo night hoping to win some extra cash.

Bingo offers players a cheap alternative to going to a night club or restaurant with mates and is great fun. Brands such as Gala and Mecca have hundreds of Bingo halls around the country each having huge house jackpots.

The Carlton Bingo Hall in Dunfermline has reported a increase of 25% in visitor numbers as many choose bingo over alternative nights out.

The manager of the Forth Bingo Club in Rosyth, Christina Mcelhinney, "We have the same people at this club who have been coming here for years but you do have some young ones coming in."

Younger people are starting to try bingo out for a night out realizing the chance of winning big money. Groups such as students who are tight for money are visiting local halls with the hope of winning some extra cash.

The industry in recent years has bee dominated by a move to online bingo which has proved extremely popular with over 2 million people playing every year in the UK.

Are we seeing a new bingo Boom with land based halls?Who knows!
