The Marina Bay Sands is recruiting
5th March, 2009

The Marina Bay Sands in Singapore is now recruiting for its casino operations.
The casino is looking to employ 4.500 people to be dealers, pit supervisors, surveillance personnel and gaming table technicians.
Given that gambling is new in Singapore, applicants will need no prior experience as all staff will receive in-house training.
"We're going to be creating a simulated casino and we shall be giving about 11 to 13 weeks of training to people who are interested in being part of that division," Said Nigel Roberts, president of the casino.
The casinos objective when hiring, is to employ as many Singaporeans as possible.
Mr Roberts said: "I think it helps us all. It makes everything smoother, more efficient and as I said, at the end of the day, the objective is to hire Singaporeans - Singapore jobs for Singaporeans. And I think we all clearly have that ambition in mind."
The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) is helping the casino train interested applicants.
Ong Ye Kung, assistant secretary-general, NTUC, said: "Our job bank now has 17,200 jobs. We have about 7,000 to 8,000 people in our database seeking jobs.
It is reported that the casino hopes to employ 10,000 people in total.
