The gambling wife of a policeman is guilty
28th February, 2008
Julie Zamwalt, the wife of Bryon Zumwalt, a police chief of the town of Stanfield in Umatilla County, was pleaded guilty last night for the stealing cash from the Pendleton Wal-Mart where she worked at the time.
Her lawyer, Kurt Bendixsen, said that Julie "got snagged by the gambling monster." She gambled excessively, which is why she had gone through a 12-step program and counseling.
She is now sentenced to two years of probation and is obliged to repay Wal-Mart over $13,000.
