Top four online bingo advertising spenders announced

According to reports from eGaming review online bingo operators: Cashcade, Gala bingo, Sun bingo and William hill have spent more in total on advertising last year than their 20 largest rivals combined, according to new research.
Market research agency Mintel, has compiled a report which shows that the four operators spent over £10m on advertising during 2008 in comparison to the £5m spend by their 20 rivals in total.
The largest spender was Sun Bingo who spent £3.2 million on advertising their site; this was closely followed by Foxy Bingo who spent £3m. The next biggest spender was Gala, who spent £2.3m of its £3.8m budget online whilst William Hill spent £1.6million on advertising its bingo operation.
All other bingo brands spent under £1m during 2008; with PartyGaming spending £994,000, followed by Think bingo spending £786,000 and Mecca who spent £342,000. Littlewoods, Bingos.net, Bingos.co.uk and Buckingham bingo club spent over £100,000 each.
The report concluded that, “As an indication of how the power in the bingo market is shifting towards the online arena, the main investors in main media advertising in 2007 and 2008 have been the major online players. The top four investors in 2008 are online products, and combined these four online offers account for 67% of main media spending.”
Additional research from Mintel stated that online bingo is booming with a 60% increase in online bingo players, whilst land based bingo halls are suffering showing a 10% drop in attendances.
