Tote To Be Bought By Bodog?

The horserace totalisator board, known as the tote, was first created an alternative to illegal betting and was created by the Government. A few weeks ago it was announced that the Government plans to sell the organization to ease public deficit.

Tote currently holds 540 high street betting shops and has a strong presence at 60 race courses throughout the UK; the company is represented online under the totesport brand.

It has been rumoured that Bodog Europe may make a bid for the company in plans to expand its horse racing presence.

Newspaper City AM found that managing director of Bodog, Keith McDonnell, was previous the managing director of the tote’s online sector and thought about an online partnership between the companies. However, he refused to confirm a bid, “Any internal conversation about a deal remains confidential.”

The shareholder executive, the department responsible for the selling of Government assets also declined to offer comment.
