Florida To Legalise Online Gambling?

With only a few days to spare The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) has been further delayed for six months.

The American legislation was due to come into force on the 1st December, making it illegal for banks and other financial institutions to make outgoing transactions to online gambling sites.

The impending UIEGA is the main reason who many US players no longer are welcome to play on the majority of online gambling sites, including Betfred, as it has become a legal mine field.

The proceedings have now been delayed until 1st June 2010 which means there is a realistic chance of the bill being over turned.

Rep. Barney Frank wants to push through a new bill called HR 2267, which 63 congressman are showing their support for. The bill gives the US Government a complete framework which can be used to fully license and regulate the online gambling industry.

Is he is successful, American players will be given the freedom to player wherever they wish. This will in turn generate a larger player pool and the potential for more money to be available to win.

Barney Frank has his first meeting on December 3rd.
