UK battles potential corruption
8th July, 2009
If you’re involved in any of the UK’s gambling industry, you may be interested in the UK’s latest corruption busting scheme aimed to act as a watchdog on the UK’s casino, gambling and betting markets, designed to monitor betting company’s actions ensuring the industry both globally and nationally remains intact.
This has arisen from recent game fixing allegations, which most appropriately was last reported in the Wimbledon tennis games, requiring the Betfair to launch an investigation into the International Tennis Federation’s Integrity Unit.
It was in response to this, that the British sports minister, Gerry Sutcliffe, has appointed Rick Parry as the head of a brand new panel of people focused on monitoring the sports betting industry, ensuring the maintenance and integrity of sports games and events.
Gerry Sutcliffe is confident that by acting now, early intervention will prevent the industries from becoming targets of corruption, Rick Parry having been the previous CEO of Liverpool football team says he will use his knowledge to aid in the fight against betting corruption.
