UK Gambling Industry Fails Trust Test

14th March, 2008

A survey produced by YouGov has shown that the online gambling industry is the least trusted of all e-commerce sectors.

The report shows that, despite increased efforts by the online gambling industry, the sector is still the least trusted sector in terms of its capability to keep personal information about its customers both private and secure.

The report was carried out in the UK where it failed the ‘Customer Trust Test’. Many customers just do not trust the industry and believe it to be an industry that thrives on getting as much money out of its customers as possible and pays little attention to their needs. Other customers have reported instances of leaked information and the industry’s failures to safeguard their identities.

All things considered a high percentage of the UK do not trust the gambling industry and oppose their handling of personal information. Despite all this it is still the largest and fastest growing market in the world, only being held back by government restrictions, mainly abroad.
