UK is for online gambling

13th December, 2007

British government has voiced their opinion on the online gambling debate about whether or not the industry should be tightly regulated or banned between US and Europe.

The dispute started off from the time when Antigua's World Trade Organisation won over America in the beginning of this year. This gave Europe a chance to insist on annual trade concessions.

In a letter to some gambling firms, Emily Bourne, the Private Secretary for the British Department of Business Enterprise and Reform, stated that UK is all for stricter regulations but against the total gambling ban that is now in place in the US.

This statement does not just disapprove of the Gambling Act 2005, it also goes completely against UIGEA, Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that was introduced by US government in October 2006.

The whole of Europe is hoping that the resistance to these US legislations now also from UK government will make US start considering international trade agreements and bring back online gambling into America.
