Bingo fans from all over gathered in London yesterday to protest about the tax increase from 15% to 22% that is being applied to the bingo industry even in such a difficult time with over 90 bingo halls shutting in the last 3 years. It has been thought that the increase is sexist as it does not apply to betting or casino but exclusively bingo halls are predominantly female.

A spokesperson from the protest explained that an open top bus was circling the Houses of Parliament and a handful of MP’s also attended as expected to help show their support.

Bingo supporters and employees came from all over the country and met on The Green outside the Houses of Parliament yesterday. Dave Holt, operations director of the Ritz who was at the protest said “The number of people that have turned up has really exceeded the expectations of 500 people!”
