WSOPE: poker tournament schedule announced
4th July, 2008
The World Series of Poker Europe schedule has been finalized and was announced to the public this week by Harrah’s Entertainment Inc.
The 2008 WSOPE will offer four tournaments this year, which is a change from last year, adding a £1,500 buy in No Limit Hold’em event to start things off.
The schedule of official bracelet events will be as follows:
Sept. 19: Event 1 £1,500 No-Limit Hold'em
Sept. 22: Event 2 £2,500 H.O.R.S.E.
Sept. 24: Event 3 £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha
Sept. 27: Event 4 £10,000 World Championship No-Limit Hold'em
The tournaments are going to be held in London and will be hosted by various London Clubs International locations.
“We have enhanced the schedule to build on our initial success and provide a richer experience for players,” said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of World Series of Poker. “If this year’s World Series of Poker event in Las Vegas is any indication, the level of tournament play is increasing worldwide and we expect the second annual WSOPE to be hotly contested.”
There will also be five non-bracelet events in addition to the four official bracelet events, which are also expected to draw large crowds.
“We are extremely excited to be working alongside Harrah’s and the World Series of Poker brand for the second year,” said David Yu, Betfair.com CEO. “Betfair Poker is now the only place players can qualify online for the tournament – this exclusivity show how confident we are that WSOPE 2008 will be even bigger and better than before.”
