Poker to be affected by the Economic Recession?

The Economic recession has been centre of conversation and debate in recent months. With unemployment numbers growing around the globe, job security is on the minds of many. However will an industry such as online poker affected by the 'credit crunch'?

Well, Las Vegas Casino's have reported a loss in earnings and several smaller online gaming sites have been forced to shut down. Companies such as Party Poker, Pacific Poker or Titan are likely to survive the recession with ease however their profits are likely to be less.

As consumers cut back on leisure activity spending, many see the poker industry as becoming smaller tighter and confided to the larger operators.

Casual players taking part in games for fun are likely to cut back on depositing effecting the profits of operators. Therefore the more serious professional players will have player harder opposition in the hope of making some quick cash.

Overall the hierarchy of poker players will not be majorly effected. Millions of players won't simply stop playing the game, however deposits could be less frequent and less in value.
