World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational

Some jokers were thrown into the pack this year at the World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational. On day 2 of the event, a ‘practical joke’ was played on the players when it was suggested that the likes of Matt Damon, Eric Bana, Edward Norton, and Abraham Lincoln would be attending.

Despite the absence of the 16th US President and Hollywood’s A-list elite, there were still a few stars playing, including Tia Carrere, Don Cheadle, Shannon Elizabeth, Jennifer Tilly, Ricki Lake, and Brad Garrett.

Lining up with the stars were poker pros Eric Seidel, Mike Matusow, Barry Greenstein, Mike Sexton, Jamie Gold, Phil Laak, and Freddy Deeb.

With $100,000 up for grabs, the competition was fierce. Jennifer Tilly was quickly eliminated by TV legend Ricki Lake as was Joe Sebok.

Later on in the day, only three of the celebrities remained in the competition, Vince Van Patten, Marlon Wayans and Mekhi Phifer.

However, the final table was headed up by WSOP bracelet holder Freddy Deeb, who after calling Nick Gonzalez with pocket 8’s, won the title and a seat in Aprils WPT World Championship.
