World Poker Tour heads to Venice

The World Poker Tour attracts many of the biggest names in poker and holds numerous live events around the globe. Many of the events take place in the USA however the world tour will be visiting Italy in May as well as staging it's first African event in Morocco in October.
The announcement comes after WPT signed a deal with internet gaming giant Bwin, who provide customers with online poker, casino and betting products. The Venice event will be held at the famous Casino Di Venezia which is located in amongst the cities canals.
President and Chief Executive Officer for WPT, Steve Lipscomb, said "We’re thrilled to launch our first ever bricks and mortar WPT tournament offering in Italy"
Bwin will sponsor the event and will be advertised heavily throughout the event.
Lipscomb went on to add, "Bwin is a strong partner with the right market position in the region. We look forward to working with them to bring this event and the WPT brand to poker players in Italy and Europe."
The WPT is also planning on holding events in the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, as well as the world championship's in April with will be held at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
