You don't have to bet on sport

There are so many things that people can put their money today its hard to keep track of it all. From popular sporting events like boxing, tennis, football, rugby, snooker, golf and darts, to the usual horse racing and dogs. Not to mention that breakdown beyond win, lose or draw, of who will score first, how many corners during the match, and how many century breaks will be made.

It is no wonder we forget that there are so many things that can be bet. You’ll find that most bookmakers offer specials to punters as well. Now this could be anything from political to reality TV and even from financial to novelty events.

A great example of this would be the ability to bet on whether or not there will be a white Christmas this year. Bookmakers such as Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and Coral all give odds on the weather outcome of Christmas Day.

Usually odds are relatively generous around 10 -15/1, illustrating how little the chance of snow fall on the day are. However after the usually early snow fall that we have experienced already this November, coupled with lowering temperatures. Bookies have slashed odds to around 6-7/1, suggesting the chances are more likely this year.

Now while the majority of us will see this as a welcome change considering snow has only fallen around 7 times on the magical day since 1950. It has to be said that meteorologists are not promising anything. Despite this Coral’s odds of a white Christmas across England are set at 7/1, but it truly is unknown as to whether dreaming of a white Christmas will come true.
