eCOGRA Reports Positive Outlook
22nd May, 2008
According to the report released by eCOGRA (e-Commerce Online Gambling Regulation and Assurance), European online regulatory gaming situation is getting better.
eCOGRA is a regulatory body, first introduced in 2002. It was established by 888.com and Microgaming as a non-profit organisation.
CEO for eCOGRA, Andrew Beveridge, stated that it’s in gaming operators’ interests to maintain high standards of service. He pointed out that it is necessary for European Union members to start easing rules and regulations regarding online gaming competition policies, and other legislations directly and indirectly affecting online gaming operators.
Beveridge specifically noticed that the recent positive changes in the industry were mainly caused by the pressure from the European Commission and individual actions of several operators. He stated that governments policies are starting to move more towards more liberalised industry climate.
Here is what he said: “Now more than ever before it is important that eCOGRA accredited operators adhere to the eCAPs that have taken so much international expert input and effort to construct., providing a set of best practice standards across the operational spectrum that will meet the scrutiny of the most discerning jurisdictions.”
